Young engineers are the future of the building services industry. We hope that with the support and experience of the wider CIBSE membership we can strengthen and unite the young engineering community locally, nationally and internationally. The young engineer’s network will provide a frame work for a range of activities that will inspire and support young engineers already in the industry and encourage interest from others outside the building services profession.
Provide a support network for young engineers within CIBSE YEN.
Promote building services to students and young engineers out with the industry.
Provide social networking opportunities for young engineers.
Provide a platform for knowledge exchange
Promote sustainability amongst young engineers and the built environment.
Encourage young engineers to engage more closely with our professional institution throughout their careers.
Inspire young engineers – guiding them towards a long term career in the building services profession.

It's that time of year again! Yes, you've guessed it, the CIBSE Young Engineers Network presents the 2nd Annual CIBSE Ceilidh (kâ'lç)!
After the success of last year's Gaelic dance, we have decided to turn this into an annual event and celebrate the second anniversary of YEN.
On Friday 23rd July, the Citygate Hotel will come alive with the distinctive sound of Celtic fiddles and lively dance.
The evening will begin with an amusing insight into the world of building services presented by Andrew Pettifer, ARUP Regional MEP Leader. Then, let our experienced dance caller guide you through the steps as we present the second CIBSE NSW Ceilidh dance. The night will feature live band, free whiskey tasting for as long as the whiskey lasts, 2 hours of an open bar and delicious canapes starting at 6:30pm, so get there on time to make the most of the free food and drink!
This night of dance, fun and frivolities is open to all CIBSE members and their guests.
$30 per person or $40 per couple

Start: 6:30pm
Date: 23rd July 2010

The Chair of CIBSE YEN Australia and New Zealand, Ilina Nanitsos (right) met with a member of the CIBSE Young Engineers Network Committee, Macy Wong Mel Sze (left) in Hong Kong in June.
Increasing the networking opportunities of YEN is always a welcome scenario in the life of YEN members. This meeting will open new doors around the world, share ideas and create greater networking opportunities for our members!

The YEN Committee is proud to invite you all to a presention/site visit of the Macquarie Bank Building at 1 Shelley Street, Sydney. Shelley Street achieved a 6 Green Star Design (V2) rating and has various Environmentally Sustainable Design initiatives. Don't miss this opportunity to learn about these initiatives and how they have been implemented.
Meet us at 7:00pm, Monday 10th May 2010 at the bottom of the escalators through the main entrance (at the north eastern corner of the building) or just look out for the CIBSE YEN banner. Refreshments will be provided before we receive a compelling presentation by Macquarie Bank and their consultants (at 7:30pm).
The YEN Committee would like to welcome you to 2010! We hope you had a fantastic break and are looking forward to all the upcoming YEN events we have planned.
To kick off the year we thought we would give you all the opportunity to get a behind the scenes tour around one of the world' greatest landmarks - The Sydney Opera House! This monumental building is not only a masterpiece of modern architecture, but in its short lifetime, Sydney Opera House has earned a reputation as a world-class performing arts centre and become a symbol of both Sydney and the Australian nation.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about what makes this great building tick!
