an update on Commercial Building Disclosure

Monday 2 August 2010

12 noon for 12.30pm

Venue : Auditorium, Engineers Australia

Speaker: Daniel Heath B.Eng (Hons)
(A/Manager, Business & Management Programs, Office of Energy)

The Presentation :

The National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) is a performance-based rating system for existing buildings. NABERS Energy and Water ratings rely on the accurate measurement of 12 months of energy and water consumption. New rules for validating non-utility meters for NABERS ratings have recently been introduced and have been designed to ensure the energy and water data entered into a rating accurately reflects consumption. An overview of the new validation requirements will be provided in the first part of this presentation.

NABERS Energy forms a central component of the national Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) program which will commence on 1st November 2010. Under the program, most sellers or lessors of commercial office space of 2,000 square metres or more will be required to disclose an up-to-date energy efficiency rating. Disclosure requirements will be applicable to sale, lease or sublease transactions. The second part of this presentation will provide an update on Commercial Building Disclosure and some of the key elements of the program.
